Softball Recap: Downers Grove South Takes a Loss

Glenbard West hit Downers Grove South with a four-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell 7-3 to the Hilltoppers. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hilltoppers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Victoria Colorato was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gabby Ruchniewicz, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Downers Grove South has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Glenbard West, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-7.

Looking ahead, Downers Grove South will challenge Lincoln-Way Central at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The Knights will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Glenbard West, they will face off against Downers Grove North at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
