Softball Game Preview: Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts Mustangs vs. Centennial Eagles

For the second straight game, Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts will face off against Centennial. The Mustangs will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Centennial, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Eagles 9-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Sage Nuckols spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shae Remoket, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Hooker, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts' victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 4-12. As for Centennial, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.
