Basketball Recap: San Diego Vaqueros vs. Santa Gertrudis Academy Lions
It was a good run, but the San Diego Vaqueros unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 66-53 to Santa Gertrudis Academy. San Diego was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
San Diego lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Estevan R barrientes, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Austen Reynolds, who scored 14 points.
San Diego's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-7. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11.
San Diego will take on the Longhorns at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hebbronville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Santa Gertrudis Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
