Softball Recap: Lancaster Has No Trouble Against Fort Mill

Lancaster made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Fort Mill, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Lancaster blew past Fort Mill 13-1 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaylynn Miller made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one double while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Lancaster got a massive performance out of Cameryn Cauthen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Trinity Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Lancaster was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Lancaster has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Fort Mill's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lancaster will host A.C. Flora at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. A.C. Flora's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Lancaster's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fort Mill, they will challenge Charlotte Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
