East Brunswick took a 13-run defeat the last time they faced off against South Plainfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bears won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 6-5. The game snapped a strange streak: the last six times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Hayden Dziubeck tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joe Spinello, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Zeichner, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

East Brunswick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

East Brunswick's record now sits at 10-5. As for South Plainfield, their loss dropped their record down to 11-5.
