AA District 2 recap October 8, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Dakota Brock and Chase Smith connected against Chuckey-Doak. The connection went for 58 yards, the longest such play in AA District 2 this season.
Claiborne was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in the league. The Bulldogs vanquished West Greene 32-21 earlier in the week.
Cumberland Gap's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brock threw for 81 and 1 touchdown and Smith had 76 yards receiving. On the ground Brandon Balley contributed 32 yards.
Balley was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 6 carries, he ran for 32 yards as the Panthers lost to the Black Knights. Teammate Brock added to the ground attack by rushing for 28 yards.
Cumberland Gap's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Panthers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Brock has thrown for 605 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Smith has 12 catches for 190 yards. Brock also leads the league in rushing with 508 yards.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Greeneville beat Grainger 70-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Green Devils.
