Baseball Game Preview: Taft Eagles vs. Amundsen Vikings

For the second straight game, Taft will face off against Amundsen. The Eagles will welcome the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Taft hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

On Monday, Taft came up short against Amundsen and fell 6-2.

Taft got a good showing from Tom Gentile, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gentile has become a key player for the Eagles: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 10-12 otherwise.

At the plate, Evan Jocic made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Taft's success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 3-1 (and 11-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Danny Marr, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Amundsen and bumps their season record up to 6-18. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Taft, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-14.
