Softball Game Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Carey Blue Devils

The Perkins Pirates will square off against the Carey Blue Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Perkins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Perkins' offense. They came up short against Eastwood on Thursday, falling 10-0. The Pirates' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Kaleyon Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on six hits.

Carey never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Arlington on Friday. They blew past the Red Devils 15-2. The win continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Danika Hanna made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Hanna was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Autumn Bouillon, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Luhring, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Carey lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Perkins' loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Carey, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
