Softball Game Preview: Colonial Forge Eagles vs. Hylton Bulldogs

The Colonial Forge Eagles will take on the Hylton Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hylton took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Colonial Forge, who comes in off a win.

Colonial Forge will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating North Stafford, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Eagles skirted past the Wolverines 3-1. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Wolverines on their field since April 21, 2023.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Hylton and Charles J. Colgan, and Charles J. Colgan kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs lost 8-2 to the Sharks on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hylton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alanis Layne, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Layne is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Colonial Forge now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Hylton, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Colonial Forge took their win against Hylton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
