Volleyball Recap: Wayland Wildcats vs. Catholic Central Cougars
It was a proper cat-fight when Wayland faced off against Catholic Central on Saturday. The Wildcats took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
Cara Wolf was the offensive standout of the game as she had nine digs and three assists. Mia Nicholas also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.
This is the second loss in a row for Wayland and nudges their season record down to 1-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 5-2 Hudsonville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 72.4% over those games). As for Catholic Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Wayland will head out to face off against South Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Wildcats their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Catholic Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Hudsonville on the 6th.
