Oak Ridge (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat Ponderosa (Shingle Springs, Calif.), 41-0, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Ian Book to
Trent Buenzli in the first quarter, the Trojans led 28-0 at the half.
Oak Ridge grew its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. OR's lone score in the quarter came on a
Tanner Hughes touchdown run.
Book stood out for the El Dorado Hills school in the win. The sophomore quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
The Trojans went into the matchup giving up only 15.3 points per game. Ponderosa's zero points were well below their season average of 23.1 per game. Ponderosa came in giving up 17.3 points per game this season. PHS had a hard time against Oak Ridge's offense, which entered the game scoring 26.6 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 20-17 win for OR.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Shingle Springs school.
Ponderosa (4-4) will play a Delta River League game against Folsom next week, while Oak Ridge (7-1) will take on Pleasant Grove also in a Delta River League game.
