Baseball Recap: Bedford Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Bedford won the last time they faced Salem and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 5-4. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.

Bedford's victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zach Papik, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Papik a new career-high. Another was James Gilbert, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Bedford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Bedford is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Salem, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.
