Baseball Recap: Grant Generals vs. Northwest Classen Knights
Grant extended their losing streak to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-15. They came up short against the Northwest Classen Knights, falling 10-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-2 back in March.
As for Northwest Classen, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-17. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
For Northwest Classen's part, Jayden Mayfield was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Mayfield was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bowman Young and Adrian Vargas Chavez did most of the damage at the plate: Young got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Vargas Chavez went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.
