Baseball Recap: Davenport Comes Up Short

Davenport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Victory Christian Academy Storm, falling 10-2. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Storm apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

Davenport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Omar Ortiz, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double. Another was Luis Escalera, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Davenport's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Victory Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Davenport will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Horizon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Horizon's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Davenport's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Victory Christian Academy, they will challenge Frostproof at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
