Baseball Game Preview: Westfield Bombers vs. Central Golden Eagles

The Westfield Bombers will challenge the Central Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westfield is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Wednesday, Westfield sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Minnechaug Regional. That's two games straight that the Bombers have won by just one run.

Meanwhile, Central made easy work of Agawam on Wednesday and carried off a 13-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Brownies: they've now won five in a row.

Westfield pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Central, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Westfield beat Central 6-2 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
