Baseball Recap: West Canada Valley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hamilton on Friday, West Canada Valley came back down to earth. The Nighthawks lost 11-2 to the South Lewis Falcons on Monday. The Nighthawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Jordan Salvagni and Jack Stewart stepped up to the plate in a big way. Salvagni got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI, while Stewart went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Stewart has become a key player for West Canada Valley: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise.

West Canada Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for South Lewis, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Canada Valley will welcome Cooperstown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Lewis, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Alexandria Central at 5:00 p.m.
