Softball Recap: Old Mill Comes Up Short

Old Mill dropped down to 3-9 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Southern Bulldogs, falling 11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Patriots have suffered against the Bulldogs since May 4, 2017.

Old Mill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyna Winterling, who went 2-for-3 with one triple. That triple was Winterling's first of the season.

As for Southern, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-7-1 record. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

On Southern's side, Madi Lanham was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Henkensiefken, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Old Mill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-1 defeat against Chesapeake on the 20th. As for Southern, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-1 win against Severn Run on the 18th.
