It was a good run, but Edinburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to the Weslaco Panthers. The Bobcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 56-53.

Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brayan Martinez, who posted 20 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Axel Navarro, who put up 11 points and three steals.

Weslaco's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Pete Cantu, who went 5 for 6 on his way to 13 points and seven boards. Kai L Fino was another key player, putting up 13 points and six rebounds.

Edinburg's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 25-9. As for Weslaco, they pushed their record up to 22-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Edinburg has already played their next game, a 60-46 victory against Edinburg North on the 4th. Weslaco has also already played their next contest (against Economedes), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
