Basketball Game Preview: Caprock Longhorns vs. Lubbock Westerners

The Caprock Longhorns are taking a road trip to take on the Lubbock Westerners at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Caprock has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Caprock is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. The match between them and Plainview didn't end well, with Caprock falling 68-50. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 771st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 125th).

Meanwhile, Lubbock hadn't done well against Plainview recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Lubbock made off with a 49-48 win over Plainview.

Caprock's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Lubbock, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season.

Caprock took a serious blow against Lubbock in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 56-29. Can Caprock avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
