Softball Game Preview: Winthrop Vikings vs. Saugus Sachems

Winthrop is 0-10 against Saugus since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Vikings will welcome the Sachems at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Winthrop lost 23-4 to Peabody Veterans Memorial on Wednesday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sofia Gonzalez was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Saugus came up short against Beverly on Wednesday, falling 13-6. The Sachems have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Winthrop's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Saugus, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
