League recap: Louisburg rises in state rank

1A Conference 8 recap October 1, 2013

Louisburg scaled the state rankings by moving to 254 from 280 this week, the biggest jump in 1A Conference 8. The Warriors were able to move up by defeating Southern Vance 36-20.

Northwest Halifax lost to Roanoke Rapids 69-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Jay Parker threw for 331 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 20-37 with 3 interceptions.

Parker put up the best numbers in passing as Granville Central lost to Franklinton. Parker's favorite target this week was Dylan Beckwith, who caught 5 passes for 95 yards.

The Panthers' Parker and Beckwith led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Parker has thrown for 1,176 yards this season, while Beckwith has 19 catches for 364 yards. ANTONIO SMITH from Louisburg leads the league in rushing with 485 yards.

Chris lee's team led the league in scoring this week by notching 36 points on the Raiders. SMITH ran for 168 yards in the win.
