Basketball Recap: Abraham Lincoln Comes Up Short

Abraham Lincoln was the 66-59 winner over Sankofa Freedom Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Abraham Lincoln Railsplitters fell just short of the Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors by a score of 54-51 on Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Abraham Lincoln lost, don't look at Chris Barr. Despite the final result, he posted 17 points. Javere Russell was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Sankofa Freedom Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Asim Hardy out in front who had 13 points along with five assists and five steals. Hardy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nafis Dubose, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Abraham Lincoln's record now sits at 1-3. As for Sankofa Freedom Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.

Abraham Lincoln will take on Conwell-Egan Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sankofa Freedom Academy, they will square off against Brandeis at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Sankofa Freedom Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season.
