Basketball Recap: Chopticon Takes a Loss

Chopticon fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Huntingtown on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Huntingtown Hurricanes 84-79. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), the Braves still had to take the loss.

Leading Huntingtown to victory were Brady Swann and Nate Harris. Swann went 8-for-13 on his way to 21 points along with eight boards and three steals, while Harris went 9-for-17 to rack up 24 points and three steals. The contest was Swann's third in a row with at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Cobb, who went 5-for-6 en route to 13 points.

Chopticon's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Huntingtown, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Chopticon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Huntingtown, they and Patuxent will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest, having both just played.
