It's playoff time, and Calallen had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Davenport Wolves a 4-0 shutout on Friday. The Wildcats are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 18 straight.
The result came thanks to Jordyn Thibodeaux's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 14 Ks.
On the hitting side, Braelyn Bailey was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brookelynn Meador, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Calallen's victory bumped their record up to 30-4. As for Davenport, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-8-1.
Looking ahead, Calallen will face off against Fredericksburg on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 1.7, the Billies 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Davenport does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
