Baseball Recap: Riverview Wins Going Away Against Spoto

After only two runs in their last matchup, Riverview made sure to put some runs up on the board against Spoto on Thursday. The Sharks were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Spartans. For the Sharks, this counts as revenge for the 9-4 win the Spartans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2025.

Parker Burt looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025.

On the hitting side, Kaden Hess and Gabe Boltz did most of the damage at the plate: Hess got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI, while Boltz got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave Boltz a new career-high. Peyton Newman was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

The victory got Riverview back to even at 1-1. As for Spoto, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Looking ahead, Riverview is taking a road trip to take on Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Spoto, they will host Bloomingdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
