Softball Game Preview: Roncalli Jets vs. Brillion Lions

The Roncalli Jets will face off against the Brillion Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Roncalli has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Chilton hit Roncalli with a five-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Jets lost 14-3 to the Tigers. The Jets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Brillion put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Valders by a score of 7-2. The seven-run effort marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Grace Krueger made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Carter Miller was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Amaya Brooks was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Brillion lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Brillion's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Roncalli, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Roncalli might still be hurting after the 17-2 defeat they got from Brillion when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Jets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
