Baseball Game Preview: Northwood Chargers vs. Cornerstone Charter Cardinals

The Northwood Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Cornerstone Charter Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Northwood easily dispatched Chatham Central on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Chargers fell just short of Glenn by a score of 2-0 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.89 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against Bethany Community, falling 13-1. Cardinals fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Wolves since on Tuesday.

Cornerstone Charter saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Shaffrey, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Cornerstone Charter's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8. As for Northwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
