Baseball Recap: Steinmetz College Prep Has No Trouble Against North Grand

Steinmetz College Prep won against Bogan on Wednesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Silver Streaks blew past the North Grand Eagle Owls 15-8. This was payback for the Silver Streaks, who suffered a 16-9 loss the last time these two teams met.

Elias Flores was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Steinmetz College Prep's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 4-20 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Karol Nowak was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luis Jose Batista Taveras, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Steinmetz College Prep and bumps their season record up to 7-21. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for North Grand, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3.

Coming up, Steinmetz College Prep will challenge Northtown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pumas have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.64 runs per game on average), something the Silver Streaks will no doubt try to take advantage of. North Grand does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
