Softball Game Preview: Simley Spartans vs. Two Rivers Warriors

Simley is 2-8 against Two Rivers since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Spartans will face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Two Rivers took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Simley, who comes in off a win.

Simley took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They skirted past Washburn 7-5.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Two Rivers was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Hastings by a score of 2-1.

Mazzy Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Two Rivers saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dani Shields, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

The victory got Simley back to even at 7-7. As for Two Rivers, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Simley suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Two Rivers when the teams last played back in April. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
