Basketball Recap: Kelliher/Northome Skates Past Laporte with Ease

Kelliher/Northome entered their tilt with Laporte on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 91-25 victory over the Laporte Wildcats. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Wildcats are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kelliher/Northome got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kate Thayer out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten steals. The matchup was Thayer's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Binkley, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine steals.

Kelliher/Northome was working as a unit and finished the game with 30 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 22 assists in four consecutive games.

Kelliher/Northome is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.5 points per game. As for Laporte, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Kelliher/Northome will welcome Bigfork at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Kelliher/Northome's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Laporte, they will head out on the road to take on Win-E-Mac at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
