Basketball Game Preview: Rock Canyon Jaguars vs. Castle View Sabercats

Rock Canyon is a perfect 10-0 against Castle View since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rock Canyon Jaguars will face off against the Castle View Sabercats at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Rock Canyon's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games.

Last Friday, Rock Canyon strolled past Highlands Ranch with points to spare, taking the game 75-60. Given the Jaguars' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Falcons are ranked 97th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rock Canyon can attribute much of their success to Jacob David, who went 9-for-14 to rack up 20 points and five rebounds, and Kasen Lehman, who went 8-for-13 en route to 21 points. David's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Abner, who posted five points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Castle View hadn't done well against Douglas County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Castle View walked away with a 62-49 win over Douglas County.

Rock Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.8 points over those games. As for Castle View, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.

Everything came up roses for Rock Canyon against Castle View when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 65-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rock Canyon since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
