Baseball Recap: Mingo Central Takes a Loss

Mingo Central was the 8-6 winner over WestSide when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Miners took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Renegades on Monday. The Miners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Keziah Joplin was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Mingo Central's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-3 (and 2-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Aaron Blankenship, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mingo Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-16. As for WestSide, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-17.

Mingo Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for WestSide, they will head out to take on James Monroe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Renegades' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mavericks have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
