Basketball Recap: Wood County Christian Takes a Loss

Wood County Christian lost against Frontier back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Wood County Christian Wildcat fell 54-43 to the Frontier Cougars. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcat came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 103rd in West Virginia, while the Cougars are ranked 586th in Ohio).

Frontier got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Bowersock out in front who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Bowersock a new career-high. Avery Powell was another key player, putting up 21 points and seven boards.

Wood County Christian is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7. As for Frontier, their record now sits at 10-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wood County Christian will face off against Richwood at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Frontier, they will square off against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
