Soccer Game Preview: Independence vs. San Jose

Independence and San Jose are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but likely not for long. The Independence 76ers will be playing at home against the San Jose Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Friday just wasn't the day for Independence's offense. They came up short against Yerba Buena on Friday, falling 3-0. The loss put an end to the 76ers' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, San Jose lost 4-1 to James Lick on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1003rd, while the Comets are ranked 284th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Independence fell to 4-1-2. As for San Jose, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Independence skirted past San Jose 2-1 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Independence repeat their success, or does San Jose have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
