Softball Recap: Cranberry Area Extends Winning Streak to Four

Cranberry Area came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Keystone Panthers get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Berries might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.

Gracee Hess was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Hess was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashylyn McWilliams, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Danica Wenner was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Cranberry Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive contests.

Cranberry Area's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Keystone, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Cranberry Area will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
