Recap: Statesville Greyhounds vs. West Iredell Warriors

The Statesville Greyhounds had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They really took it to West Iredell for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-30 victory at home. That 40 points margin sets a new team best for Statesville this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Statesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Tillman, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Tillman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Tatum Tucker was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.

West Iredell lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jermaine Cornelius, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was David Bunton, who scored nine points.

Statesville's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for West Iredell, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Statesville will face off against North Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. North Lincoln knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matchups -- so hopefully Statesville likes a good challenge. As for West Iredell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Stephens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Stephens is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.2 points per game.
