Basketball Preview: Steeleville Warriors vs. Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton
The Steeleville Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Steeleville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Thursday.
Steeleville waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-37 win over Valmeyer.
Steeleville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylan Reiss out in front who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Reiss has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bailey Cole, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton had to suffer through a rough 49-20 loss at the hands of the Red Devils. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now lost four in a row.
Steeleville's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-22.
Steeleville didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 47-43 win. Will Steeleville repeat their success, or do the have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
