Softball Recap: Socastee Braves vs. St. James Sharks
Socastee extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 3-13. They lost 17-5 to the St. James Sharks. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 16-10 to the Sharks when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Laila Noland made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Mahaila Lowe, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one double.
As for St. James, the win keeps them at an undefeated 21-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average this season.
On St. James' side, Raegan Tibbitts made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Tibbitts has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Callie Centracchio was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Roloson, who went 4-for-5 with four runs.
While Socastee had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
