League recap: Father Lopez blown out by Warner Christian

3A District 2 recap September 17, 2013

Father Lopez fell to Warner Christian 63-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Joe Boden threw for 128 yards in the defeat.

Trinity Catholic led 3A District 2 in scoring this week by notching 44 points on Eastside. Reid Carlton threw for 128 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 17 yards during the win.

Carlton and Johnnie Taylor gave the Celtics a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Dominque Brown also contributed to the rushing game with 71 yards on the ground.

Carlton and Taylor gave Trinity Catholic a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.

He was 11-13 with 1 interceptions.

Carlton put up the best numbers in passing as John Brantley's team bested the Rams. Carlton's favorite target this week was Max Linder, who caught 4 passes for 44 yards.

Nick Eastman was the best wideout in the league this week as Father Lopez lost to the Eagles. Eastman racked up 7 receptions for 50 yards. Brant Williams helped Father Lopez's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 40 yards.

Taylor was the best running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 106 yards as the Celtics fell to Warner Christian.

The Green Wave's Boden and Williams have formed a dream team this season, leading 3A District 2 in both passing and receiving yards. Boden has thrown for 479 yards this season, while Williams has 10 catches for 138 yards. Trinity Catholic's Taylor leads the league in rushing yards with 353.

The Celtics made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 472 from 781. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 44-0 victory over Eastside last week.
