Basketball Recap: Hadlee Sanderson Key Part of a Team Effort in Tigers Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Brilliant took on Berry on Saturday. The Brilliant Tigers strolled past the Berry Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 53-38. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Wildcats are ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brilliant to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hadlee Sanderson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. That's the most boards Sanderson has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Omary, who posted 14 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.

Berry's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maggie Mauldin, who put up 11 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Rice, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Brilliant's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-9. As for Berry, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Brilliant has already played their next game (against Hackleburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Berry didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-24 victory against Sumiton Christian on the 27th.
