Wayne County never got on the board in their matchup last Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Richton on Tuesday. They blew past the Richton Rebels 11-5. Considering the War Eagles have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Colt Branch made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Bowles, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Ross Clements, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI.
Wayne County's record is now 5-2. As for Richton, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
