Baseball Recap: Stark County's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

Stark County won the last time they faced Putnam County and things went their way on Monday too. The Rebels walked away with a 7-3 win over the Panthers.

Dillon Steelman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Blair Daum was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Jasen Knowles was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Stark County's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Putnam County, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stark County will square off against Peoria Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Putnam County, they will take on Bureau Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Panthers have won six straight at home, while the Storm won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
