Baseball Recap: Lake Weir's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Lake Weir had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Williston Red Devils. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hurricanes as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

The team relied heavily on Cody Toth, who scored a run and stole one base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Landen Courtney was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Lake Weir didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-4 defeat against Crystal River on the 5th. As for Williston, they will take on Branford at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th.
