Soccer Game Preview: Vergennes vs. Woodstock

The Vergennes Commodores will take on the Woodstock Wasps on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Vergennes is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Green Mountain Union a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Vergennes, who have now won 11 matches by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Green Mountain Union with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ashtin S (3), Ava F (3), Sophia J (2), and Ayla K.

Bellows Falls typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Woodstock proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Terriers with a sharp 6-0 victory. The contest marked Woodstock's most dominant win of the season.

The victory (which was Vergennes' third in a row) raised their record to 14-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those three matchups. As for Woodstock, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.
