St. Petersburg had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed by the Gibbs Gladiators on the road to the tune of 46-0. Given the Green Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Gladiators are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jeffery Jones went supernova for St. Petersburg, rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes. Jones' longest rush was for an impressive 64 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Zayquavion Williams handled things on the ground, rushing for 83 yards.

Williams wasn't the only one working in the rushing yards department: St. Petersburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 207 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gibbs only rushed for 16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Petersburg will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Boca Ciega at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are at an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2014. As for Gibbs, they will welcome Countryside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibbs is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
