After losing to James Irwin the last time they met, St. Mary decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The St. Mary's Pirates claimed a resounding 77-40 victory over the James Irwin Jaguars. With the Pirates ahead 51-17 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

St. Mary's was led to victory by Michael Trechter and Jeremiah Starr. Trechter to rack up 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Starr en route to 18 points and four steals. Starr's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Bret Stewart, who posted ten points and four steals.

St. Mary's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

James Irwin's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Kimble, who earned seven points and four blocks. What's more, Kimble also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January of 2024.

St. Mary's pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points over those games. As for James Irwin, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

St. Mary's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for James Irwin, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Village at 6:30 p.m. Village knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully James Irwin likes a good challenge.
