Soccer Game Preview: Westlake vs. Bay

The Westlake Demons will head out to challenge the Bay Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Westlake barely beat Elyria Catholic the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Demons' defense stepped up to hand the Panthers a 3-0 shutout on Saturday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Westlake's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Elyria Catholic are ranked 406th).

Meanwhile, Bay made easy work of Fairview on Saturday and carried off a 4-1 win. With Bay ahead 4-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Westlake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. As for Bay, their win bumped their record up to 10-2-1.

Everything went Westlake's way against Bay when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Westlake made off with a 5-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Demons since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
