Baseball Game Preview: Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack vs. Elk Grove Thundering Herd

For the second straight game, Cosumnes Oaks will face off against Elk Grove. The Wolfpack are taking a road trip to face off against the Thundering Herd at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Cosumnes Oaks has given up an average of 7.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cosumnes Oaks came up short against Elk Grove on Wednesday, falling 12-1. The Wolfpack have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Elk Grove's part, Anthony Bascherini looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Bascherini has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tristen Bartlett was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Nick Jones was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

The victory (which was Elk Grove's third in a row) raised their record to 14-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.
