Softball Recap: Palm Harbor University Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Palm Harbor University won against Largo last Wednesday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Palm Harbor University Hurricanes beat the East Bay Indians by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-1. The Hurricanes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Emma Shipley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mylie Stout, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Gill, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.

Palm Harbor University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Bay only posted an OBP of .333.

Palm Harbor University's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for East Bay, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Palm Harbor University wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 11-3 victory against Sickles on the 7th. As for East Bay, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-0 defeat against Sarasota on the 8th.
