League recap: Suwannee scores huge upset over Eastside

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Suwannee, who defeated 178th ranked Eastside, 16-7.

The Bulldogs moved up to 197 from 267 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 5. Suwannee was able to move up by defeating the Rams 16-7.

Dunnellon's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kobi Jones threw for 160 and 3 touchdowns and Kane Parks had 160 yards receiving. On the ground Josh Williams contributed 111 yards.

The Tigers' dynamic duo of Jones and Parks proved tough for Belleview to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Erik Pitts provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Rattlers /Diamo lost to Dunnellon. He completed 12 passes for 164 yards and also ran for 21 yards. Pitts' key target this week was Dyantre Colston, who caught 8 passes for 109 yards.

He went 5-9 with 0 interceptions.

Belleview's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Rattlers /Diamo feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Pitts has thrown for 413 yards this season, while Colston has 12 catches for 196 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Belleview takes on Jamie Rodgers' team. Phillip Yancey's team's offense has racked up 127 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while the Bulldogs have allowed only 46 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Frank Beasley's team takes on North Marion. The Tigers are in first place, while the Colts are in third place.

Dunnellon added to the longest winning streak in 5A District 5 this week by beating the Rattlers /Diamo, 56-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
